Updated TAG Guidelines Continue to Raise the Bar on Fraud and Malware Prevention

GuidelinesUpdate-min

Criminals are constantly changing their attacks, and TAG’s Certified Against Fraud and Certified Against Malware guidelines were designed to be equally adaptable through ongoing updates and enhancements, designed through the relevant TAG Working Groups and in consultation with the broader TAG community.

Driving that process of continuous improvement forward, TAG updated its anti-fraud and anti-malware program guidelines in July.

Key Certified Against Malware updates include:

  • Section 2.6.c provides updated context around CAM training (available on TAG's Member Portal)
  • Section 4.8 includes a 5th auditable core criteria for effective malvertising detection and removal devices
  • Sections 4.7 and 4.8 require intermediaries who use proprietary, in-house technology to employ malvertising detection and removal to comply with the core criteria (Section 4.8).

Key Certified Against Fraud updates include:

  • Intermediaries and/or Direct sellers must disclose to TAG the effective maintenance and accuracy procedures of their sellers.json, ads.txt and/or app-ads.txt files as part of their Quarterly Internal Review process.
  • Section 4.15 requires Podcast Distribution Players and Creators to use a standardized user agent structure for all RSS feeds and audio files across podcasting monetization environments.

As a reminder, these updates will come into effect from January 2025. So please make sure your review your tech solutions and operations still meet the new requirements sooner rather than later. If you have any questions, our Policy and Compliance team are here to help: info@tagtoday.net.

Fortune Favours the Bold at Mad//Fest

Madfest

“Fortune Favours the Bold” was this year’s theme for Mad//Fest in London, and Team TAG was in the house meeting with members, listening to panels, and boldly discussing industry challenges.

From reminders that data is an inspiration source (but not your boss) ... to the powerful effect the word ‘election’ will continue to have this year … to ensuring marketing strategies should be a reflection of our evolving culture … to ubiquitous AI chatbots, the festival had meaningful content pouring from all sides of the Truman Brewery.

Lasting takeaways from this year’s festival included:

  • Do what’s right, not what’s popular -- from British Airways
  • Being bold comes in different forms -- from Co-op
  • Learning where OEM’s thriving in CTV -- from Samsung Ads
  • The power of tapping into super fans -- from NBCUniversal UK

Getting Digital and Social at the Latest ANA Event

ANA LA

While European marketers and advertisers were being bold at Mad//Fest, US marketers and advertisers got updates on the latest innovations in digital and social media at the Association of National Advertisers’ (ANA) Digital and Social Media Conference in California.

Team TAG was on the ground in Los Angeles, as attendees connected with one another and attended engaging presentations about the industry’s state of play, including the important reminder that the digital landscape is constantly evolving, and the industry needs to embrace change and keep learning in order to stay ahead of the curve.

Key takeaways from the conference included:

  • AI is our friend, not our enemy. Emerging technologies can help brands present a better version of themselves, whether more creative, more efficient or more productive.
  • CTV is the new prime time. With the consumer reach that CTV has achieved, the CTV channel should be a staple in all media strategies.

Transparency is non-negotiable. TAG TrustNet Benchmark Report highlights the importance of taking control of marketer’s programmatic supply chains.
